In order to live in a residence hall without any worries until the end of your studies, you should basically follow three basic rules:

  1. The due date for the rent invoice is the 20th date of every month – invoices can be paid by bank transfer or by direct debit through the bank or in cash at the office of the Student Village at Narva mnt 25.
  2. The time of retiring is 23.00 – after that loud music is not allowed and the guests should have left.
  3. Good order in the rooms – no smoking is allowed indoors (except in the smoking rooms) in the residence hall, no consumption of alcohol or narcotic drugs. The tenants themselves have to clean the area inside the door of the apartment – the rooms, kitchen, toilet and shower room.

What kind of materials should be used for cleaning?

Using just a cloth and a brush is not enough for cleaning. Special cleaning agents are required for the removal of limescale deposits, grease, etc. and you can buy them together for the apartment. With regular cleaning you will get better results more easily. Also garbage and used packaging should be taken out by tenants themselves and it is advisable to sort them into the respective garbage containers.

Use rubber gloves to avoid skin damage with domestic chemical products!

According to our experience the following products have proved most effective:

Limescale: Cillit with the image of a tap/mixer on the label – light blue liquid (not cream!) or Cillit Bang – an excellent product even for floors if used with a strong-bristled brush. Do not worry about the white bubbly reaction on the surface cleaned – the process decomposes the limescale and enables to remove it easily.

Kitchen range: Cif or some other creamy paste (NB! Do not pour liquid over the switches).

Pipelines: In order to prevent clogging, it would be practical to use pipe cleaning agents regularly and to clean the drain pit in the shower room.

The grease filter of the air cleaner can be cleaned with a dish-washing agent and cleaning paste (Cif, etc.).

Problems are posted through the e-kyla customer management system. Your problem or breakdown registered in e-kyla is immediately assigned to the list of the duties of the right person. Later you will get a report on the solution of the problem and can also give feedback concerning its solution, if necessary. If a repair worker has to come to solve your problem, ensure that the work area is accessible and clean (e.g. if the sink is clogged, remove the dishes from the sink and clean the sink). No works will be performed if the work area is not accessible.
